Is the wheels of the AI hype train coming off for me?

I think the wheels are about to come off the AI hype train for me personally.

I have been skeptical and worried about the future of our software industry since the rise of "better" models for code-gen.

I am not an Anti-AI extremist, I do think there is some value there to help with mundane and repetitive grunt work and that has been how I have been using it.

It has served me pretty well, allowing me to focus on architecting and writing code for the fun (and interesting) parts.

But I have noticed that I spend more time dispatching these tasks to AI than if I actually sat down and coded it out from scratch. I am not sure if the models have become more careful and expects the user to review their changes more thoroughly, or the "magic" of watching someone else do the work for you, is starting to wear itself off.

Thank you for reading all the way to the end. I've been trying to work on myself to try and write more and it took a lot for me to start writing again. If you liked what I wrote, please drop me a DM on mastodon to encourage me. It will mean a lot to me.
